Nutrition Program
Kidron Valley Orphanage, located in Naminya, Uganda, is home to over 45 children, from infancy to 18 years old. Due to financial limitations, the orphanage was previously unable to provide the well-balanced, nutritious meals essential for the children's growth, development, and academic success. As a result, meals often lacked nutritional value, impacting both health and learning.
Our goal is to provide three healthy, nutritious meals per day to ensure these children receive the nourishment they need to thrive. A new meal plan—developed by Jopri medical professionals in collaboration with Kidron leadership, medical staff, and kitchen staff—is now being implemented daily at the orphanage. This plan includes daily protein and fresh produce, with the long-term goal of expanding the program to provide nutritious lunches for all students attending Kidron’s school.

To enhance sustainability and food security, current initiatives include:
- Expanding farmland to grow a greater variety of crops in pursuit of producing over 75% of the orphanage’s fresh produce in-house.
- Constructing a new kitchen to improve meal preparation and efficiency.
- Providing infant formula to support proper early childhood nutrition.
- Purchasing and raising livestock (cattle, goats, and chickens) for a consistent source of dairy, eggs, and meat.
- Utilizing a newly acquired freezer to store meats, reducing food costs and ensuring year-round availability.
